In the beginning, there was the Creator and he was alone. Then the Creator made the universe with a wave of his hands and then bringing his hands together making a mighty thunderous clap. Like rolling thunder, the sound moved forward in every direction. With that same mighty clap, he created stars of all sizes, colors, and brightness. Some of the new stars wandered alone throughout the vast darkness and some gathered as if they were a family in whirlpools that journeyed through a great empty dark ocean. He filled the universe with everything from the largest of things to the smallest as well as the seen and unseen.
Then after his brief rest, he looked at his creation and he thought to himself. My heart will feel gladness if there were others in my life that may keep me company and he made it so. Then with one breath from deep within him, he created many companions in the form of spirits. These spirits are the spirits of all that you see before you today; the trees, the animals, the fish, the eagle and many more. All went well for a moment in time for the Creator and his spirits, but the time came when he knew that they were not yet complete. So he gathered them together to tell them that they must all go on a quest to find a home. The spirits would wander throughout the universe for some time in search of a place they could call home.
A time past and the spirits of all that is now came to a small star with nine children of its own. The spirits felt a great energy coming from a small star before them and were drawn towards its warmth. The energy in the form of light coming from that small star gave them the strength to continue on there quest. The spirits knew that if they got too close to the small star heat it would destroy them instantly. They were determined to stay as close as they could to the young star. The spirits came at it from every direction, but it was nothing they could do. So they looked upon the face of the nearest child of the small star, but it was also too hot and too close to the small star. The spirits move on to the next of the children circling around the small star, but it was also too hot for life to survive.
Then the spirits came to the third of the children circling around the small star and they noticed that it was cooling down and its face was made of stone. This child of the small star would cool down with time and it was close enough to the small star and they could feel the light energy from it. The Creator gathered them together and said to them that they must wait until the third child was ready to care for the new life that was to become her own. After a time the small planet gave birth to a moon that followed her around the small star and the Creator knew that that the small planet was now a mother.
The spirits saw her and cried out to the Creator, could this be our new found home? The Creator heard there cry and with a breath, he cooled the third child until she was hot no more. Then the Creator plucked a star from the night sky and sent it falling towards the third child. It was a beautiful small blue star that blazed across the night sky. When the small blue falling star hit the surface of the third planet from the small star, it became covered in water almost instantly.
The spirits of all that is today were very glad in their hearts for they knew that the time was drawing near for them in their new home. No longer would they roam the endless reaches of the universe in search of a home. The spirits seemed tired for they had journeyed far across time and space to find this a place that would meet their needs. The Creator looked upon the new planet and called her Earth mother. Clouds began to form above the surface of the water. The Creator looked at the clouds and granted the spirits their new home where they would be known as sky people.
Then the Creator gathered them on their new home and told them that they must not forget the old ones; the stones, the water and the darkness of the universe. That sacrificed that the stones and water made of themselves to provide a home for the spirits of all that is now upon the face of Mother Earth and so in a ceremony, this should be done. That stones should be made to glow red hot once more and that the water should be used to cool them down in the darkness. There in the darkness of the universe, the sky people will be one with the creation and for there in song and prayer, they shall receive the medicine that will bring about their healing, strength, and wisdom that will aid them on their journey for days to come.
